Fifteen years ago, DiaLeb - National Diabetes Organization was not just an idea or an organization. It was a deeply personal journey that began at home, with my daughter, Sylvie Maalouf Issa ,living with type 1 diabetes. Like many parents, I was faced with fear, questions, and uncertainty—but also with a strong determination to transform this experience into something meaningful, not only for my family, but for every person walking a similar path.

Together, we co-founded DiaLeb with a simple yet powerful vision: that no one living with diabetes should feel alone, unheard, or unsupported. Along the way, we met extraordinary people—children, families, young adults, and older persons—each carrying their own stories of resilience. They shaped DiaLeb just as much as we aimed to support them.

Throughout these 15 years, we have grown, matured, and worked relentlessly to position DiaLeb as a credible and trustworthy organization, recognized through multiple global memberships and affiliations. One of the most defining milestones was becoming a member of the International Diabetes Federation in 2016. This journey later led to the honor of being elected as the first woman from the MENA region to serve on their Global Board and to occupy the position of Vice President—a role that was reaffirmed through a second election, with a mandate extending until 2027.

Our work would not have been possible without the dedicated professionals who believed in our mission, the advocates who found their voice through DiaLeb, and the communities we have served. Over time, our programs expanded beyond diabetes to address other chronic conditions, non-communicable diseases, and metabolic health.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank every single person who shaped this journey. A very special thank you goes to our partners, who believed in our integrity and supported our mission with trust and generosity.

Happy 15th anniversary to the entire #DiaLeb family. This journey belongs to all of us, and together, we move forward with purpose, compassion, and hope.
